Rest in peace, pup.

Yesterday was a truly sad day for us.

We had to put down one of our dogs, Sammi. She was a sweet little cocker spaniel that had a difficult life. She developed paralysis in her hind end, with very little chance of ever moving her legs again. So, not wanting her to live a life of pain and immobility, I had to make the painful decision to have her put to sleep.

Definitely not the best of days. It was one of the hardest things I had to do. We've had that little dog for close to 3 years. She wasn't socialized at all, so she didn't like other dogs. Barely tolerated Keeley. But still, she enjoyed barking at motorcyclists out back, chasing her ball, and chewing on her rawhide bones.

I do know, however, that she's no longer in pain and in a better place. Sammi, we'll miss you, pup.

I won!!

First off, happy birthday, mom! I won't mention how old you are! We had a good time at lunch at Casa Serrano's! Glad you liked your birthday cake! Giliane did a good job on it, didn't she? Oh, and you're gonna love dinner tomorrow!

Super Bowl XLII was today. Giants vs. Patriots. Giliane was rooting for the Patriots, and I had the Giants. The Bet this year was Dessert of Choice for the winner, made by the loser. I thought for certain I'd be making Giliane something for dessert. The Patriots were heavily favored to win.

But lo & behold! The Giants took 'em! So now I have to decide what to have for dessert. Marionberry cobbler? Apple crisp? Dark chocolate something? This is gonna require some serious thinking!

Ok, she's reading a book now, and I think I'm gonna play some 7 Wonders (bejeweled-puzzle game). Love ya babe!
