Summer Olympics!

The next set of Olympics kicks off today! Well, if you want to get technical, they already have, but it hasn't been televised yet. But hey, we're gonna watch anyway, right?

This time around they're in Bejing, China. America is pinning its medal hopes on primarly swimming (Phelps) and the women's gymnastics team. The men's team looked to be a strong contender, only ye olde Hamm boys had to drop out due to injuries. That's gotta suck for them.

In this day and age we're gonna watch as many of our favorite events as possible on probably several different types of media - tv & Internet. Here's a list of some of our favorite events: gymanstics, diving, archery, synchronized swimming, beach volleyball, track & field, and swimming, just to name a few.

Do I think that the American teams are going to do well this time around? Oddly enough, I don't think so. We will probably medal with women's gymnastics (silver), swimming (gold), and maybe a few in track & field, but I don't think we're gonna be #1 in total medal count. More like 6 or 7. That's my prediction, anyway.

Did you hear that they are pretty much putting teeny, tiny little cameras just about everywhere in Bejing to try and let the home audience "get into the spirit" of the games? The thing I don't like about the press coverage is that as soon as you do a performance, especially if it's a sub-par performance, the first thing they'll do is shove a camera in your face and ask you how you feel. I'd just love to hear someone say, "Well, Joan, I feel pretty crappy right about you, thank you so much for asking. You?"

So grab yourself a soda, a bag of chips, or some all-around junk food and let's cheer on the people who can never touch the stuff for fear of gaining a pound or two! Go USA!
