All this for a new cell phone??

It never fails.

I wanted to upgrade the Sprint cell phones we have been using now for 2 years. Sprint has a program where if you use the same phone for that long, then you get $150 per phone credit towards your next phone.

What a pain in the ass!

I called them last Thursday to see about doing just this. They said that I'd still be saddled with mail-in-rebates, etc, and that I'd still end up paying over $180 per phone (before rebate naturally). I asked them if I was a brand new customer why then I could get the same phone, hassle-free, for $80. "New clients only, sir."

I then told ol' Bryan @ Sprint that if he wanted to keep us as clients then he'd offer us a deal that was equivalent. You'd think I just asked him to turn lead to gold. "I don't have the authority to do that, sir."

Fine. Time for a supervisor. "Joseph" got on the phone. Gave him the same speel. It was time for Sprint to treat their existing clients just as well as they treat new ones. He flat-out didn't want to give me a deal whatsoever. Asked for his employee ID. That shut him up. "Why do you need that?" "Well, when Sprint asks us why we're closing our account, I'm going to tell them that YOU were unwilling to treat us right and not give us any deal." "One moment please, sir."

Back on hold. 10 minutes later I finally was given the deal I wanted. Two new A900s, pictured to the left. Essentially, buy one get one free. Now, if you consider that each of these phones is well over $350, you'll finally see I got my way. :) Just irritates the living crap out of me that these cell phone companies don't treat their existing clients well.

I'm sure I'm at the top of their favorites list now. :)

But, the story goes on. When we got these phones, I activated Giliane's first. Went off without any hitches. But mine? "I'm sorry sir, but the code on that phone is fraudelent." Super long story short, I had to go to Walmart (yeah, I know, but that's where Sprint told me to go) and cool my jets there for over 2 hours while they gave me the run-around. They tried to get me to agree to send the phone back myself. Then they would send me a new one when they got the old one.

LOL That didn't go over too well. Another arguing match. Needless to say, I got my phone! But was it worth it? Hmmmmmmm, yeah, I won two battles with Sprint. Guess I like to argue! No comments from the peanut gallery, Keri!!!!
